ZitatThe Mugen thermostat and fan switch are designed to open up sooner and turn on the cooling fans earlier. They may sound like a good idea until one actually analyzes the effect to a stock ECU. Opening the thermostat sooner means it takes longer for the ECU to exit out of warm up mode causing the engine to run extra rich until coolant temp has reached the programmed operating temp (~175 - 180F). The problem may not be apparent during hot weather but it will be during the cold weather. I have purchased the thermostat and fan switch components, tested/monitored with a scan tool, then promptly sold them. I had to cover up most of the radiator with a piece of cardboard in order for the coolant temp to operate correctly during the winter season. There are all kinds of performance parts out there, just make sure they are being used for the correct application.
